Margate Film Festival is now a registered charity. “Eight years of community cinema, big screens, bold ideas, and brilliant audiences - and now we have formal, solid foundations to match,” say the team behind it. The festival is set to return in November.

The Prince Albert pub on Broadstairs High Street is under new management. Officially opening this week, Callum and Dizzy (and dog Bernie) will be putting on regular pool, quiz, karaoke and live music nights. Follow on Instagram.

Yoakley House is the new beneficiary of the community bookshelf at Tesco Extra in Westwood Cross. Any money donated for books on the shelf until June 30 will go straight to the Margate care home. Books to go on the shelf can also be donated to Yoakley or Tesco directly.
As expected, Bombo Doughnuts is set to reopen in Margate with a new stall inside Dreamland. It was originally set to open this weekend, but will now begin serving up sweet treats on Friday, May 29.
Ramsgate Arts Club has launched a new spring/summer menu. As well as an expanding cheese and charcuterie offering, the venue is now also doing tapas small plates. Open from 5pm, Thursday to Sunday.
