Last Saturday was a busy one. We started the day (after hitting send on the newsletter) with a jaunt to the Northdown Road Block Party. With people out to make the most of the scorching hot day, as live music rang down the street, there was a real party vibe.
The same was true over at day one of Ramsgate Carnival, where the fair was in full swing on Government Acre. While I wasn't able to watch the full parade on Sunday, it was great to see one of the large scale puppets wander around the field. There was more music from Harmony Bo and Crabs (who shot over from a show on the NDR), which drew a sizeablele crowd.
Back in Cliftonville, I managed to catch a bit of Melinda Bronstein performing a brilliant set in Ghost Papa before rushing over the road to enjoy a meal served up by MOP. So full of flavour, their menu is always a delight. It was tough not to order everything twice. The oily paratha and two sets of dumplings were particular highlights.
Then we closed the night with a trip to Margate's newest pub, the Cockle & Hen. Beautifully done out, it has a very different feel to any other bar on Marine Drive. It was a lovely spot for a couple of quiet drinks.
