Ramsgate’s Look Mum No Computer turned in a stellar performance at the Eurovision Song Contest last weekend, full of energy, joy and audience participation. For this, he was awarded one single point by the juries (Ukraine’s, specifically) and nothing in the public vote. He looked like he had fun though. And he’s got a new t-shirt out of it. Although not strictly true, it does bear the worthwhile slogan Look Mum No Points.
BBC Three sitcom Things You Should Have Done, starring Lucia Keskin and set in Ramsgate, has been renewed for a third series. Production company Roughcut announced the news this week, although there’s currently no word on when it might appear on our screens.
Minnis Bay, Botany Bay, Joss Bay and Ramsgate Main Sands beaches in Thanet have been awarded Blue Flags, with a further eight receiving Seaside Awards. The global awards - presented by Keep Britain Tidy in the UK - recognise well-managed beaches with excellent water quality and environmental education programmes. Find out more.
Turner Contemporary’s An Apple a Day educational programme has received named Highly Commended in the Learning Programme of the Year category at the 2026 Museums + Heritage Awards. Held alongside Anya Gallaccio’s exhibition at the gallery, the programme worked to create opportunities for schools, families and young people to creatively connect with the themes of the show.
Thanet District Council is asking the public for their views on its draft biodiversity strategy before it is finalised. The document is a framework designed to protect and restore the district's unique natural environment, addressing biodiversity loss and climate change.
