Harry Hill is coming to Margate! The living legend/national treasure/big-collared former doctor will be headlining a special Chump’s night at Margate Winter Gardens on March 13. Also on the bill will be Fatiha El-Ghorri, Laura, Smyth and Dance Buckley, with host James Gill. Tickets £30.60.
The Margate Bookie literary festival returns later this month with talks from big name authors and a day of creative writing workshops. Ahead of the main weekend, organisers have announced the Local Writers Showcase. The event will see published and emerging authors and poets from across Thanet perform a piece of recent work at ARK in Cliftonville on Wednesday, October 14. See a folk theatre re-telling of Matthew Watkins’ 2023 non-fiction book about the rise of AI SoldGoldMagikarp at St Peter's Anglican Church in Canterbury on Thursday, October 22. The performance is based on a play performed at Smugglers Festival last year. Free tickets.

Ramsgate Space hosts The Future is Green: Green Energy, Jobs & Ramsgate's Future on Saturday, October 24. It will be an opportunity to find out more about the planned Green Campus in the Port of Ramsgate, explore green jobs and skills, hear what came out of the Green Energy, Marine & Coastal Innovation Forum and more. Neurodivergent Friends in Thanet has two social events coming up this month. The first is at Crecendorious in Margate on Monday, October 12 and the second is at The House in Ramsgate on Friday, October 23. Both will provide a safe space for neurodivergent adults to meet and socialise. Free tickets.
The Feeling are currently touring to mark the 20th anniversary of their debut album Twelve Stops and Home. Yes, that came out 20 year ago. No, I don’t know how that’s possible. Anyway, I mention it because one of the tour dates will be at The Drill Shed in Cliftonville on Thursday, November 12. Tickets £38.50.
Named one of the best shows at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe by multiple publications, stand up comedian Larry Dean’s Hellbent is coming to Where Else in Margate on Thursday, December 3. Tickets £20.

Stumped for what to get his dad for his 70th birthday, stand up comedian Jack Barry went for an old classic - magic mushrooms. Find out if this was a good idea or not when he performs his new show Let’s Get Barried at the Crab Museum in Margate on Wednesday, February 3. If you need to know sooner, you can ask me about the time I did something similar, although I suspect his story will be funnier. Tickets £13.50.
The Bottleneck in Broadstairs will be delving into the world of fortified wines on Wednesday, November 18. Get into port, sherry and madeira wine, alongside a selection of red and wine wines from the name regions. Cheese and charcuterie boards included with your ticket. Tickets £55.
High Dive in Margate will be hosting an evening of music, margaritas and quesadillas on Thursday, October 22. Margaritas and quesadillas will be £5 each and 100% of profits will be donated to the Art & Design Saturday Club at Margate School of Art.
