The programme for this year’s Ramsgate Festival of Sound has been unveiled. Ramsgate Noise Institute will host the official opening party on Thursday, September 10. Other events include the annual sonic trail and Busk Until Dusk, a family fun day hosted by Modulus Quartet, and a live performance from Eurovision star Look Mum No Computer. Stand up comedian Tatty Mcleod brings a work in progress version of her new show Things My Mother Did to Where Else in Margate on Monday, September 14. Tickets £15

Hot Coals Productions is running a series of workshops for professional actors on how to better understand and perform during the casting process. Spread over five weeks at Screen South in Folkestone from August 4 to September 1, attendees will hear from and work with a different casting director in each session. Places £195

Pro Wrestling Colossus celebrates its second birthday with Coastal Clash 3 at St John’s Community Centre on Saturday, September 5. Their recent show at the Drill Shed was so much fun, it’ll be great to see them back where it all started. Show starts at 4.30pm. Tickets £15

Queer Fight Club returns in August with a newly expanded timetable of classes for trans and queer people. Various classes run daily (except Monday and Saturday) from Tuesday, August 4 covering all levels of experience. There are also women only and functional fitness classes. Find out more

The 2026 Walpole Aquathon is set to take place on Sunday, September 13. There are two races - 750km swim and 5km run or 1500km swim and 10km run - which you can do all by yourself or split with a partner. The event will raise money for Rise Up Clean Up, People Dem Collective, and Margate Pride. Entry £25.

Artist Sabrina Pieper has announced her new exhibition Arriving at the Beginning at Hold Creative Spaces on August 9-10. There will be a drinks reception from 6pm on Saturday, August 9

Delve into Cliftonville West’s Jewish history on a Jewish Thanet walking tour. Find out about the stories, characters and mishpochehs that shaped the neighbourhood. August dates are Sunday August 9 and 23, and Wednesday, August 26 for an evening stroll. Tickets £23.

More batwalks through Dane Valley Woods have been announced with Margate Bat Walks. Upcoming walks are August 2, August 28, September 25 and October 25. Meeting time is at dusk, around 20 minutes after sunset. DM on Instagram to be added to the WhatsApp group.
