Incoming: Joe Goddard, Thanet Alive, Folkestone Book Festival
Joe Goddard's annual seaside jaunt, good eating, vintage rummaging, art, books and more. If you're planning out the rest of your year today, this is a great place to start.
Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard returns to Thanet for another night of inventive club tunes that pull together a wide range of inspiration including disco, house and garage. He’ll play an extended set from kick off until 2am on Friday, December 5 gig at Ramsgate Music Hall. Tickets £17.50.
Folkestone Flea takes over the Docker Brewery on Saturday, July 19 from 12-5pm for vintage and thrifty finds, tunes, beers and pizza by the seaside. Find it at Unit C, Five Acre Estate, CT9 5DS.
Broadstairs’ Bottleneck will host an outdoors Portuguese wine masterclass in its courtyard this month. On Thursday, July 24 and running 6.30pm to 8.30pm quaff sublime drops and munch on cheese and charcuterie as you talk about tannins, textures, palates and top notes. £55 per head.
Hastings International Ceramics Fair happens Saturday and Sunday, July 19-20. More than 45 ceramicists and studios will take part including Blacklands ceramic studio, The Mudworks, Common Clay CIC, Eastbourne Studio Pottery and St Leonards Ceramics. The fair includes historical works from the Hastings Museum & Art Gallery archive too. Arts in Ramsgate puts on Thanet Alive, an exhibition featuring a mix of local artists working across various mediums. Dan Jones, Keziah, Hope, Rose London, Tristan Carrido and Romy are on the bill. The exhibition runs Thursday, July 31 to Saturday, August 2, with a free curators talk at 2pm, Friday, August 1. Head to 46 High Street, Ramsgate, C11 9AG to check it out.
Tickets have gone on sale for this year’s London Podcast Festival, which returns for its tenth edition on September 1-14. Among the shows taking part are No Such Things As A Fish, History Hit, Wrestle Me!, nd Wrong Turns with Jameela Jamil. See the full line up.
Folkestone Book Festival is set to take place at the Quarterhouse in the town on November 13-23. There will be over 70 speakers across the 11 day event, including Irvine Welsh, Rupert Everett, Lisa Jewell, Caroline Lucas, Amanda Knox, and Will Young. Check out the full line up.
