Things to do in Thanet this week (July 13-19)

Drag artist Cabbage the Clown brings their acclaimed debut show Cinemadrome to Olby’s in Margate on Monday. Tickets £15. 

Rise Up, Clean Up is calling for volunteers to help weed Margate’s promenade on Tuesday in an effort to prevent Kent County Council’s plans to use weedkiller glyphosate in the area. The dangerous chemical is already banned by Thanet District Council. Meet at the clocktower at 8am. More info.

Ramsgate Dining Room launches at Ramsgate Space this week. Chef Julian D Brown will be cooking a five course menu on Wednesday and Thursday. £50 per person. 

Ramsgate Arts Club will be hosting four consecutive nights of double bill previews this week with Tom Houghton and Phil Nichol (Wednesday), Sara Barron and Sophie Duker (Thursday), Hasan Al Habib and Dee Allum (Friday), and Lenny Sherman and Patrick Monahan (Saturday). Tickets £15 per night. 

Margate Pride’s Summer Quiz will take place at Cliftonville Community Centre on Wednesday, raising money for this year’s Pride and celebrating the event’s tenth anniversary. Tickets £12. 

As part of its fifth birthday celebrations, Cliftonville record shop Ghost Papa will be taking over Margate’s Sun Deck on Friday with Kit Proudfoot from Big Woes and Tim & Shirley from Margate Radio spinning the tunes. 

As part of the Vestiges: Time, Propriety and Emotion exhibition at Madsen-Sylvester Studio in Ramsgate, there will be a number of creative workshops, film screenings and walks taking place around the town on Saturday and Sunday. Find out more. 

The Powell-Cotton Museum at Quex Park in Birchington opens its annual Festival of Archaeology on Saturday until August 2. Various events for all ages. Tickets from £7. 

Balearic Boutique is back at Louie on Sea in Margate on Saturday evening, with DJs spinning chilled tunes to soundtrack the sunset. Grab and drink and a deckchair, or pop inside for food. 

The Flaming Lips and the Beta Band play Dreamland on Saturday. Tickets £58.75.

Melissa Todd will preview her new Edinburgh show Gag Writer, telling stories from her 30 years as a sex worker, at Ramsgate’s Alley Bar on Saturday. Tickets £25. 

The Garden Gate Project in Northdown Park puts on its annual Music Day on Saturday with performances from Tom Vek, NOTV, Charlie Don’t Surf and more. Tickets £16. 

The Barefoot Planter hosts three family-friendly mindful planting workshops throughout the day at Turner Contemporary in Margate on Sunday. Tickets £3.50.
