With spring just around the corner, there's loads going on in Thanet, including stand up comedy, book talks, art exhibitions, a pancake race and more. Take a look at our picks of things to do.

Phil Wang will be performing three work in progress shows at Where Else in Margate on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Predictably, these are sold out. Try your luck on the waiting list

Head to Margate’s Theatre Royal on Wednesday from 3-7pm to find out more about redevelopment plans for the venue. 

Margate Pride hosts a special LGBT+ History Month quiz with a back to school theme at Cliftonville Community Hall on Wednesday. Tickets are £12 with money raised going towards putting on this year’s Margate Pride. 

This month’s Writing in Progress new writing night takes place on Wednesday at Margate Off Licence. Free entry.

The Imagine children’s arts festival returns to London’s Southbank Centre on Wednesday until February 21, offering a great programme of half term events. Check out the full programme

Thanet Trustees is holding a meet up at Arts Education Exchange in Cliftonville on Thursday from 5-7pm. This is an opportunity to meet with trustees of Thanet charities and CICs, whether you’re one yourself or would like to find out more about the work they do. Eco artist and ‘binfluencer’ Kieran Poole performs Rubbish Shopping Lists, comedy show based on 1000 found shopping lists, at Olby’s in Margate on Thursday. Free tickets

Margate Electronics is heading out of town with this month’s night taking place at Cafe Oto in East London on Thursday. Tickets £12

Daniella Rose King will be joined by curator Cindy Sissokho and poet Victoria Adukwei Bulley for panel discussion Quiet Presences: Black Women’s Interiority and Simone Leigh at Margate’s Turner Contemporary on Friday. Tickets £8

Currently closed, the Potting Shop in Margate will be opening up on Friday and Saturday for those last minute Valentine’s gifts. 

It’s Carnevale at Windmill Community Gardens on Saturday from 11am to 1pm, a mini-festival inspired by the Venetian Carnival. Entry £5 per family. 

The Broadstairs Charity Pancake Race is back on Saturday. Entry is £4 for adults and £3.50 for kids. Frying pans and pancakes provided. Register at the Old Curiosity Shop. 

Sandra Art4All, which supports deaf, autistic and neurodivergent people to create, exhibit and sell art, is holding a launch event for a new exhibition at Margate’s Liminal Gallery on Saturday from 2-4pm. The exhibition runs until May 9.

Ramsgate Winter Festival closes after two and half months with a day of events on Saturday, including a Valentine’s themed creative drop-in with Discovery Planet at Ramsgate Space, We Are Ramsgate in Charlotte Court from 1-4pm and a Samba Ya Wantsum parade at 3pm. Find out more
