Ramsgate turns into an advent calendar, owl life drawing, film discussion, wine for mums, a new members club opens and more. Our pick of events happening around Thanet and beyond this week.

Ramsgate Living Advent Calendar opens its first door at Ramsgate Tandoori on Monday. There’ll be festive fun at a different business or house in the town every day up to Christmas, raising money for Salvation Army Homeless Support. See the full schedule on Facebook

Wild Life Drawing will be at Gather& in Ramsgate on Wednesday. The models for the evening will be a group of owls. Tickets £35, including a 10% donation to the Barn Owl Trust.

Wine bar Penelope in Ramsgate hosts Mum Club on Thursday - an afternoon where half the party can cry, gum their food and wet their pants without judgement. Grandparents, dads and carers are also invited.

Ramsgate Noise Institute is back for another night of experimental music and sound performances at Unit 2, St Lawrence Industrial Estate on Thursday. Free entry. 

The Wellington pub and dining room (formerly Dukes) on Duke Street in Margate Old Town opens its doors for the first time on Friday. 

Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard returns to Ramsgate Music Hall for an extended DJ set on Friday. Joining the waiting list for tickets

Margate Electronics is back at Margate Arts Club on Friday with performances from Loula Yorke, Microcorps and M2C. Tickets £10

Screaming Alley’s new members club The Alley Bar in Ramsgate has its opening shows on Friday and Saturday. Comedian Violet Malice takes the opening night. Tickets £10. Then it’s drag icon Diane Chorley. Tickets £20

This month’s Teenage Book Club takes place at Ramsgate Library on Saturday at 1pm. Aimed at children aged 13-17, come and discuss a different book or graphic novel.

Bleak House in Broadstairs will be hosting a Christmas fair on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 6pm. Kids can not only meet Father Christmas and receive a gift but also have a festive train ride. Free Entry. 

Garden Gate Project is hosting a lovely festive morning on Sunday. Weave foraged wreaths while singing traditional festive folk songs, then warm yourself up with soup, tea and cake while singing more songs around a fire. Tickets £40.

The Old Curiosity Shop in Broadstairs has afternoon tea with Santa on Saturday and Sunday.

It’s Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo’s Christmas Movie Spectacular at London’s Prince Edward Theatre on Sunday. Tickets from £27.50.
