The sale of the Pierremont Park depot in Broadstairs has fallen through after its buyer withdrew. Thanet District Council announced the sale to an unnamed buyer earlier this month. Broadstairs Town Council also bid on the building, hoping to keep it for community use. “We are hopeful that this means TDC will reconsider our bid which demonstrates the value of keeping the site in public possession,” says Broadstairs & St Peters Mayor George Rusiecki. The planning permission application for the long-awaited new skatepark on the former putting green at Ethelbert Crescent in Cliftonville has been submitted. Documents show the proposed design for the park, along with other information. “The space has been designed as a meeting point for the entire community, promoting physical and social activity,” says a statement. New restaurant Little Kraken in Ramsgate opens its bar today at 5pm. Situated on York Street, it will be selling discounted drinks and food samples until 9pm. The kitchen is set to open on September 10, with a menu including seafood, steak and oysters

Turner Contemporary in Margate has partnered with Circular Margate and Arts Council England for a long-term project looking at how the gallery can develop a circular system for using materials. Over two years, the project intends to map and make visible the material flows associated with its exhibitions programme, to intercept and redirect materials to projects within the galleries, and to significantly reduce its material waste and associated carbon emissions. The wider aim is to develop a blueprint for circular systems in galleries and museums.
