The Love Booth art project will hold an exhibition of photobooth pictures at Ramsgate’s Crane Shed on September 12-14. Hundreds of pictures taken in a photobooth set up at The Queen’s Head pub earlier this year will go on show, celebrating love and connection. On the final day at 2pm, the artist behind the project, Karen Vost, will be interviewed on stage by Strange Tourist’s Zita Whalley. We’d love to see you there!

Taking place on Sunday, September 7, It’ll kick off on the prom at 11.30am before moving to The Pavillion where there will be speeches, performances, a market and music. Entry is free but donations are welcomed and will go to toward work on a larger scale event in 2026.
Margate Black Pride is putting on a summer party at Margate’s Sundeck on Saturday, September 13 from 2-10pm. There will be DJs, drag performers, food, drink and (hopefully) an awesome sunset. As well as being a lot of fun, organisers stress that it’s also “about declaring, loudly and unapologetically, that Black and brown queer lives are powerful, beautiful, and here to stay.”
Ramsgate Historic Quarter will be opening up three of the old sea captains cottages on Paradise in Ramsgate on Saturday, September 13 from 12-6pm. As well as tours of the buildings, there will be an exhibition of old maps and illustrations, and sea shanties from Men of Chalk. All attendees will also get some sea biscuits and a glass of grog. Hopefully there will be alcohol-free grog for children and non-sailors. Free entry.

The next Writing in Progress writers open mic night will take place at Off Licence in Cliftonville on Wednesday, September 10. If you’re working on something and want to try it out in front of a warm and supportive audience, this is the place for you. Artists Maud Whatley and Jack Coulson have a joint exhibition titled Thes Peces Wer Made By Me at Margate’s Liminal Gallery from September 13 to November 8. Featuring sculpture and drawings, it explores armour as a physical shield and a symbolic concept. The title comes from a 16th century annotation made by armourer Jacob Halder. Full details.
