Robin Ince will be back in Margate on Thursday, April 30 at the Fort Road Hotel to discuss his new book Normally Weird and Weirdly Normal. In conversation with local author Ellen Jones, he will discuss his personal journey through anxiety, ADHD and neurodiversity. Free entry.

There are only a few weeks left to see Turner Contemporary’s Bridget Riley exhibition. On Sunday, April 26, you’ll have the chance to experience it in a very different way. Composer Walter Zimmermann and guitarist Elliot Simpson have collaborated to create musical reimagings of six of the paintings on show. Audiences will be invited to follow the musicians around the gallery as they perform each piece next to the painting that inspired it. Free entry. Find out more.
ELZ will perform a new work in progress show By the End Of This Show Every Man in the Audience will Be In Love with Me at the Alley Bar in Ramsgate on Saturday, May 9. Her debut hour long performance, it will combine jokes, songs and poems. There will also be a happy hour at the bar before the show and party after. Tickets £10.50.
Goth club night Hexed will be back at Margate Arts Club on Friday, May 1 for its annual May Day extravaganza. There will be DJs spinning goth, industrial, metal and more all night, plus burlesque and drag performances, tarot reading, and craft making. Tickets £8.
The Secret Garden at Quex Park will host two talks on moths this summer. Did you know there are around 2500 species of moth in the UK, most of which can be found in Kent? Local ‘moth-ers’ Bob Dean and Bob Hinge will bring you lots of moth facts at the garden centre on Sunday, May 17 and Sunday, June 14. Free entry. The Broadstairs and St Peters Community Festival returns on Saturday, May 16. Now in its third year, the event showcases and raises awareness for groups supporting local residents and building a cleaner, safer, kinder community. It will run from 10am to 4pm. Free entry.
Love textiles? Join the Margate Textile Society’s weekly meetings at 101 Social in Cliftonville, Thursdays 4-6pm. The group has just embarked on a community quilt making project, so now’s the perfect time to get involved. The next Kent Whisky Explorers night is set to take place at Little Swift in Margate on Friday, May 15. For this edition, host pau Vig will guide you through five English drams.
