A massive Christmas comedy show, a workshop for budding young architects, a cabaret all-dayer, and more. Lots of dates for your diary with new events in Thanet and London.
Chump’s Comedy have announced their annual Chumpsmas show. This year they’re ramping things up a level. Taking place at Dreamland on Thursday, December 11, the line up is Ed Gamble, Michelle de Swarte, Harriet Kemsley and a secret special guest. Christopher Hall will MC the night. Tickets £32.80.
Young V&A wants young budding architects to join its two-day live design and build workshop. Participants (aged 11-14) will take on the architectural process, from creating a design brief to model-making to building a full-scale installation, guided by Studio Build and U-Build. On Monday-Tuesday August 11-12 at Young V&A in Bethnal Green. Tickets £70.
Screaming Alley has announced a massive all day cabaret on Sunday, August 24. From 2pm to 9.30pm at Radford House in Ramsgate, Pat Riarchy, Charlie Partridge, Elz, Danny Ash and friends will be putting on performances, competitions, an open mic, games, tombolas, stalls, and more. Tickets from £5.
Vintage and second hand market Treasure Trove returns to Gather& in Ramsgate for fine threads and nice stuff on Sunday, August 10, 10am-3pm.
The Sunken Garden Eco Fair is set to return on Sunday, September 21 from 11am to 4.30pm. Taking place at Westbrook’s Sunken Gardens, the day will have workshops on wildlife, ecology, conservation, tree care, gardening and sustainability. See the full programme.
Hoffs launches The Peachy Afterlight Sessions on August 7, with disco, boogie and funk on vinyl, sunsets over the water and cocktails in hand.
Dammit Janet, The Rocky Horror Picture Show screens at the Carlton in Westgate on Friday and Saturday of August 22-23 to mark 50 years of vampy campy fun and Tim Curry’s legs in fishnets.
Bottleneck in Broadstairs hosts a wine tasting sesh in its delightful courtyard on Monday, August 18. Hosted by Kent’s Biddenden Vineyard, it’s £35 a head, runs 6.30pm-8.30pm and comes with shared plates of picky bits to graze on.
Learn about Margate’s wild bee population with a walking tour of their favourite spots in and around Margate Station on Saturday, August 30. Programmed alongside the Turner’s current Anna Boghiguian exhibition, you will be guided by artist and bee keeper Dominic Rose. Free tickets.
Local punk band Crabs have announced a free end of summer all-dayer at The Sun Deck in Margate on Sunday, September 28. The Spike Direction and Harmony Bo will also perform, and there will be DJ sets from Sista G and Iain Aitch. It’ll start at 3pm and run until 9pm.
A collection of 50 rare photographs of Blondie are set to go on view at the Barbican Music Library in London from August 14 to January 5. Coinciding with photographer Martyn Goddard’s book Blondie in Camera 1978, the free exhibition will also feature other memorabilia from around the time they released their Parallel Lines album.
