Techy exhibition space 180 Strand’s new exhibition explores where art and sound meet. The Vinyl Factory - Reverb is a massive multimedia exhibition that brings together more than 100 artists and musicians working across visual arts, music, film and performance. Kent Cookery School in Ashford has several adult and kid cooking classes throughout the school holidays. There’s Thai, doughnuts, pizza or pasta classes to try out that are suitable for kids aged 8 and older. Each class runs for 2.5 hours, and if you choose the pizza one, there’s no washing up. You and your sprog can also try your hands making pizza at Macknade in Faversham. The food hall is hosting two drop in sessions on Tuesday, May 28 at 11am and 2pm, where kids can knead, spread and pile ingredients onto their dough-based masterpiece. Arts Club regulars and party drag outfit Cockles & Muscles are performing at this June’s Mighty Hoopla on the Sunday, June 2. Tickets are still available for the Sunday, however, Saturday and weekend tickets have sold out - try your luck on Ticket Swap. Just a head’s up, Canterbury’s open air cinema will return at Curzon Riverside for those few balmy evenings of the year, complete with beanbags and deckchairs. It also plans to screen Wimbledon, the Olympics, and the Euros. No dates or programming available yet, but it’s apparently opening soon.
Radio 6’s Jamz Supernova brings her Future Bounce rave club night to the Barbican. The likes of Afro-Portuguese electronic producer DJ Nidia, experimental producer Yaw Evans, Afro Rave artist Toya Delazy top the bill in a buzzy night of world dance music, covering techno, bass, kudro and genre mash-ups.
