Events and activities in Thanet and further afield this week, including a book talk, group singing lessons, a skateboarding competition, a punk all-dayer and more.

Get the Word Out, a new creative writing night, has its first outing at the Old Curiosity Shop in Broadstairs on Monday. Tickets are £5, which includes a hot drink. 

Artist Sophy Rickett will be at the Fort Road Hotel in Margate to discuss the new edition of her era-defining 1994 book Pissing Women on Thursday. Free tickets

Musician Lo Barnes’ group singing lessons, The Singing Club, begin a new term at Institute Studios on Margate High Street on Thursday. Places £110

Tonetic Records host a talk on making money in music with artist manager Dan Garber and musician Lanta at Canterbury Christ Church University’s Daphne Oram Creative Arts Building on Thursday. Suggested donation £5

Janet District Council hosts Drag Bingo at Margate Beach Club on Friday, in support of the Margate Mayor’s Fund. Entry £20 for two rounds of bingo. 

Margate Loves: A Celebration of Diversity takes place at Marine Gardens on Saturday at 11.30am. People are invited to bring music, food, international flags and placards for this peaceful demonstration. 

Skateboard GB is bringing its Survival of the Sickest junior skateboard competition to Revolution Skatepark in Broadstairs on Saturday. Entry £10

She Sells By The Sea pre-loved clothing market returns to Cinque Ports on Saturday, 11am-5pm. 

NBE Fitness hosts Plot to Plate - an opportunity to eat in nature and care for the land that grows your foo - at the Perfect Place to Grow’s kitchen garden at Quex Park on Saturday. Minimum donation £2

Margate co-working space Bon Volks celebrates its tenth anniversary on Saturday, September 27. A day-long celebration at the venue will include open studios, performances, workshops and a silent auction. 

Sunday Papers Live returns to London's Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings on (you guessed it) Sunday. There are live talks, quizzes, cocktails, a walk and a roast. Naps are allowed and massages are available all day. Tickets £39.50.

Local punk band Crabs have announced a free end of summer all-dayer at The Sun Deck in Margate on Sunday from 3-9pm. The Spike Direction Effect and Harmony Bo will also perform, and there will be DJ sets from Sista G and Iain Aitch. 

Disco punk duo AK/DK return to Ramsgate Music Hall for synths, drums and sweaty dancing on Sunday. Tickets £15.
