Fireworks, a film club, spoken word, exhibitions, live music, food pop ups and more. Here's our pick of what's going on in Thanet and further afield this week.

New film club Keeno launches on Tuesday at Big Shot in Margate. A discussion, not a screening, you’ll need to watch the month’s film beforehand. DM to find out more

Broadstairs’ Bonfire Night fireworks display is on Wednesday, with live music from Meister and The SuperMicks. Free.

The Astor Theatre in Deal is exhibiting paintings by Susan Beresford, Pam Cutler and Tim Guest in its bar from Wednesday until November 29. Private view 5-7pm on Wednesday. 

Babeslam poetry and spoken word open mic is at Where Else in Margate on Wednesday. There will also be a headline set from Daisy Naisbitt. Tickets £6.

Photographer Tim Topple’s new exhibition Bad Dad at Cliftonville’s Joseph Wales gallery from Wednesday to Monday. There will be a private view on Friday. 

Theatre maker Brigitte Aphrodite’s after school Rock n Roll Theatre Club begins on Thursday at Crescendorious HQ in Margate and for children aged four to six. It’s £90 per six week term. Email cresproducer@gmail.com for more information or to book. 

The Bug Club will be on the stage at Where Else in Margate on Thursday. Tickets £16.

Folk musician Seth Lakeman is playing the Booking Hall in Dover on Thursday. Tickets £22

Vaults Comedy is at Ramsgate Arts Club on Thursday, headlined by Norwegian comic Thor Stenhaug. Also on the bill are Kate Lucas, Max Fulham, and Tadi M. Tickets £18

Spoken word night Is It Dirty? takes place at the Roland Ross gallery in Cliftonville on Thursday. Free entry and BYOB.

Margate’s Social Singing Choir will be performing songs from films at ARK in Cliftonville on Friday. Tickets £12

Big Shot in Margate’s next karaoke and hot dogs night is on Friday. 

Liverpool indie band Courting play Where Else in Margate on Friday. Tickets £12

MOP take over Bar Ingo in Broadstairs from November 7-14, Friday to Monday both weeks. Book your table

Girl Hike and Giant Coffee team up for a Broadstairs to Ramsgate walk and meditation session on Saturday. Tickets £25

Chix Stock is putting on a farewell party on Saturday, as the fried chicken pop up prepares to leave Cinque Ports in Margate.

Pie Factory Music is holding a fundraiser at St George’s Church in Ramsgate on Saturday, with live performances from Char.B, Claire Pitt Wigmore, Zico, Aaron and Evan Williams. Tickets £10

Optimissimo, an optimistic, positive, feel good night, launches at Margate Arts Club on Saturday to put a smile on your face. From cosmic disco to wonky electro, feel good music will get you moving all night. Tickets £5

Drum n bass duo Sigma play an extended DJ set at Faith in Strangers in Cliftonville on Saturday. Tickets £23.80.

Wild Life Drawing is back on Sunday, where the theme will be rescue animals. Models include Hettie the Pygmy Hedgehog, Mika the meerkat, and Jabba the African bull frog. Tickets £35, including a 10% donation to the South Essex Wildlife Hospital.
