Things to do in Thanet and beyond this week (November 17-23)

A whole load of wine tasting events, film clubs, food, live music and more. Here's the best of what's happening in Thanet and beyond this week.

Baby sibling of the LOW wine festival, LOW Crawl will take place this week, starting at The Shakespeare on Monday and finishing at Sète on Friday with 15 venues in total offering wine samples. Ticket £15

The Bottleneck in Broadstairs hosts a Portuguese wine tasting on Tuesday. Tickets £55

The first Kino Karabiner - a new film club focussed on elevating women’s stories - runs on Tuesday at Fort Road Hotel, screening the documentary Women and the Wind. Free tickets

Crafting is fun. Crafting with booze is better. Margate Off Licence hosting Puppets and Pints on Wednesday, 6.30pm-9pm. For grown ups only, the session is “part workshop, part night out”. Materials are provided and tickets are £10.

Open Mic Poetry Night is back at 101 Social on Wednesday. Text Wordzy on 07875566950 if you want to perform. 

Mozart Estate - led by Lawrence of Felt and Go Kart Mozart fame - play Ramsgate Music Hall on Thursday. Tickets £20.

Stakehaus takes over the kitchen at Cinque Ports on Thursday. As well as steak on the menu, ELZ will be hosting karaoke on the opening night. 

Bottleneck in Broadstairs hosts a Twelve Wines of Christmas tasting on Thursday, helping you to work out what to put on the table on December 25. Places £55

Lowlife in Cliftonville hosts a cat drawing session on Thursday from 5pm. It’s all ages, all skill levels and free. 

Bleak House in Broadstairs will be hosting A Ghostly Evening on Friday - a night of ghostly tales and music from pianist and modern mystic Thomas Wood. Tickets £20.

Lambrini Girls play Dreamland’s Roller Room on Friday. Tickets £15

Also at Dreamland on Friday, Drowning Pool and Spineshank are playing a co-headline show in the Hall by the Sea, supported by (hed) pe. Tickets £31.25.

Tunng mark their 20th anniversary with a show at Where Else in Margate on Friday, with support from William Doyle. Tickets £22

A major exhibition of work by artist Bridget Riley opens at Margate’s Turner Contemporary on Saturday, exploring the evolution of her work relating to the sensory experience of sight. 

London’s Design Museum opens a new exhibition of items from film director Wes Anderson’s personal archives on Saturday. The exhibition runs until July 26 next year. Tickets from £19.96.

Thanet Urban Forest hosts guided walks about Tivoli Park in Margate and Montefiore Woodland in Ramsgate on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets from £5

Retro gaming night Junk Yard Gaming pops up at Lowlife in Cliftonville on Sunday. Entry £5 on the door. 

The Turner is hosting a festive wreath making workshop with What a Lovely Bunch on Sunday. Places £60
