It’s been another warm week with a few glorious sunsets thrown in between the sweating and the overheating. And we managed to have some drinks in the sun.

Angela’s Bar, right next to the restaurant of the same name on The Parade in Margate, opened only a couple of days ago.

There were a couple of ideas about how the former Cafe G was going to roll out. The initial idea to expand the small but perfectly formed restaurant into a bigger gaff was shut down at the planning stage. An ice cream shop selling seasonal flavours and scoops made from food waste followed.

The corner spot however, has become a chic snug of a wine bar, lined with pavement tables, with more seating across the road in the… er, piazza?

The bar is handsome. Forest green, cream and wood interiors are lowkey stylish and welcoming. With natural light streaming in from two walls of window, the place feels both light, airy and intimate.

Sharing the same ethos as the restaurant next door, food and drink are provenance-led. There’s a compact selection of craft beers on tap, and a short but considered selection of wine including a Kentish white which is dangerously good.

On day two, when we visited, the kitchen wasn’t up and running. However, with bar snacks like a smoked mackerel bap, dressed crab and marinated sardines, it sounds delicious.

For this week’s feature, we interviewed Luke Hallgarten, the founder of East London contemporary circus Revel Puck. The company is bringing its new show to Ramsgate next week. Luke explained what to expect and the company’s efforts to modernise perceptions of circus. Scroll down to find the interview and also a discount code to get 15% off tickets.

Elsewhere, we’ve got a succulent workshop, creative writing sessions, another new bar for Margate and a new Thanet-wide festival.
