Margate Restaurant Week returns this week, turning a traditionally quiet time of year into a thriving one, as locals and visitors scrabble to get cheap eats around town. Launched last year, it saw participating restaurants offering three course set menus for £20.25. This year there’s been a slight price rise to £20.26. Next year it’ll be… well, you get the idea.

A great way to eat cheap in places you already know and love, it’s also the perfect opportunity to try out something new. Last year we filled a gap in our local restaurant lexicon by visiting Quince in Westgate, which did not disappoint. We’re still thinking about the smoked almond pesto and a golden brick of dauphinoise potato twelve months on.

Running from February 2-6 this year, the line up of participating restaurants is even bigger than in 2025. There is, sadly, no chance of eating your way through the whole lot in five days. We’d be willing to give it a crack, but maybe just pick one or two to be getting on with. However you do it, you’ll get a great deal and help Margate’s eateries through the tough winter period. Two warm glows for the price of one.

Looking down the list, it’s amazing to see just how many incredible places there are to eat in this one small town. Picking favourites is tough, but the chance to eat one last time at seafood spot Dory’s before it closes (as sister restaurant Angela’s expands) is a strong pull. There’s also two chances to sample Pomus, both in the restaurant itself and a pop-up at the Fort Road Hotel. And don’t forget Margate’s newest dining spot Willy’s (read our review).
