Margate’s Turner Contemporary has announced the first European exhibition of work by Dominican artist Hulda Guzmán. Titled Please Awake – Asked Nature Kindly, the exhibition will display a decade of paintings inspired by Guzmán’s home in the rainforest mountains of Samaná. “Hulda Guzmán reimagines landscape at a time when our relationship with the natural world feels increasingly urgent,” says Turner director Clarrie Wallis. The show will run from Saturday, May 23 to Sunday, September 13. Find out more.

Steven Todd’s play about a bookshop, Goat. Book. Dad, will be performed - appropriately - in Ramsgate’s Plunder bookshop on Saturday, April 11. Premiered with a sold out performance at last year;s Faversham Fringe, the one-man show traces the relationship between the protagonist and his father, who have lived together for years without ever understanding one another. Tickets £10

Margate Radio will be celebrating its sixth birthday at Cliftonville Community Hall on Saturday, March 28. DJing the party will be Jah B, Tim & Shirley Ottou, Sophie Stirling and Rob Birch of Stereo MC’s. There will also be rum, cocktails, food from A Perfect Place to Grow and a free can of Floc beer each to the first 20 people through the door. Tickets £10

The March edition of the Kent Whisky Explorers’ tasting night at Little Swift has sold out. Good news though - they’ve announced another one two weeks later on Friday, March 27. Both nights will raise money for men’s health charity Movember. In March, host Paul Vig will be guiding attendees through a range of Irish drams. Tickets £30

Following outdoor indie discos in Birmingham, Liverpool and London last year, All Day Indie Party is coming to Dreamland in Margate on Saturday, September 26. What is it? It’s an indie party and it lasts all day. There will be DJs, there will be live performances, there will be - we are assured - “insane visuals”. Most importantly, there will be the opportunity to dance to your favourite indie bangers all flippin day. And also into the night. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday

If you can’t wait that long for some daytime dancing, don’t fret. Vicky McClure’s Day Fever is coming to Dreamland on Saturday, March 21. Billed as “the day-time disco that doesn’t ruin your Sunday”, it starts at 3pm and is done and dusted by 8pm. Since launching Sheffield two years ago, it’s gone on to run nights in 32 cities around the UK and Ireland. Tickets £14.

Drink & Draw launches downstairs at the Bedford Inn in Ramsgate on Thursday, March 12. There will be a different theme each month, and this month kicks things off with a classic: still life. All abilities are welcome, whether you’re a complete beginner or seasoned professional. There will be light guidance available if you find yourself stuck, and drinks at the bar to help loosen up your creativity. Tickets £14

Mando-pop duo Chinese American Bear have announced a show at Where Else in Margate on Saturday, March 21. Their new album Dim Sum & Then Some is out on May 8. Tickets £12.50

The Tom Thumb Theatre in Cliftonville is hosting two Edinburgh previews for the price of one on Friday, March 20. Comedians Kathryn Haywood and Mark Daniels will perform the new shows they are currently tightening up ready for the August arts festival. You’ll get to see both work-in-progress performances by these two acclaimed comics for just £8

New live performance festival Gotta Get Thru This is set to take place in venues around Margate between Monday, March 9 and Sunday, April 19. There will be audio installations, poetry in a sauna, prop fixing, a day of family shows, rave-theatre hybrid, live illustrations and more. Most events are free. See the full programme

Queer art-pop-disco club night Pansy returns to Margate Arts Club on Friday, March 20. The night will have a sprig theme because - spoiler alert - winter is about to GTFO. So dress in your new bloom best. As well as resident DJs Mother Love, Valley of the Dolls and The Lavender Menace, there will be a live performance from Bower Street Morris. Tickets £7

Punk band Crabs have announced a special summer show at Margate Arts Club on Friday, June 19. They’ll be supported by Sha Sha Shanimals and Harmony Bo with DJs Aitch and Sista G keeping the party going until the small hours. Tickets £10.
