Turner Contemporary in Margate has announced One Ocean - a three-day event exploring humanity’s relationship with the ocean. Taking place on June 19-21, the programme will include talks, workshops, film screenings and a schools day. Among the contributors taking part in the event are marine biologist Helen Scales, environmental technologist Joycelyn Longdon, artist Poulomi Basu, and Louisa Casson from Greenpeace. Businesses on Harbour Street in Ramsgate will be celebrating the UN World Day for Cultural Diversity on Thursday, May 21. The street will be filled with international food and music, with restaurants and bars offering free tasters. 

New pop club night Nip Slip will take place at the Drill Shed in Cliftonville on Saturday, May 30. It promises a night of pop bangers, floor fillers, dance anthems, and disco hits from DJs Real GC, Sophie Stirling and AKA Fox. Tickets £12

Mark Thomas has announced a massive tour to mark his 40th year as a stand up comedian. Kicking off with a month-long run at the Edinburgh Fringe, he will be in Kent on Friday, November 6 for a show at the Astor theatre in Deal. Tickets £22.50

Spoken word night Is It Dirty? returns to the Roland Ross gallery in Cliftonville on Thursday, May 28. Performing will be Maria Sledmere, Mau Baiocco, Henry Madd, Kat Cutler-MacKenzie, Harry Brooks-Kent, Vasilisa Forbes, and Rosella Dello. Free entry

Offvine starts up its Kent vineyard tours again this month. Each tour takes you around a number of independent Kent vineyards, where you’ll sample still and sparkling wines paired with cheese and charcuterie, as well as learning about the winemaking process. Tours take place most weekends through the summer, with pick up from Thanet or Ashford. Tickets from £125

Ark in Cliftonville has announced L'Chaim!, a series of events celebrating the heritage of the building it occupies. Events include a Jewish walking tour (May 17), plus screenings of Omid Djalili-staring The Infidel (June 14), documentary Canvey - The Promised Island (May 31), and Where The Wild Things Are with a live score (May 24). Sooner than that, Sea, Spirit & Stones will be running children’s circle events this month. There will be groups for children aged 4-7 and 8-11 on May 14 & 19. The sessions aim to help children become self aware of their feelings through movement, meditation and sharing. Places £15
