# News Blast: BBC sitcom begins filming in Ramsgate

**Top TV and music being made in Thanet, longer opening hours for a Margate High Street bar, discounted festival tickets for locals. Here's our weekly round up of creative and culture news from Thanet and beyond.** 

**Filming has begun in Ramsgate** on the second series of **BBC Three sitcom Things You Should Have Done**, written by and starring **Margate-born comedian Lucia Keskin**. Joining for this series will be comedian **Bridget Christie**, who says, “I’ve always wanted to play a bisexual therapist in a Lucia Keskin TV show that films near the sea. Living the dream folks. Living the dream.”

**Filming of BBC drama The Dream Lands - based on Rosa Rankin-Gee's dystopian novel Dreamland - is set to begin in Margate today**. The six part series will star Pascale Kann at 17 year old Chance, who is forced to become head of her family amid climate collapse. 

**Margate’s newest LGBTQIA+ bar La!** has secured a licence to **extend its opening hours** from 11pm to **midnight Sunday to Thursday and 2.30am on Friday and Saturday**. The bar opened last year, run by Iain Maxstead and Gareth Braithwaite of Proud Pink Inns, which previously operated Sundowners. 

**Patrick Wolf** has announced that his **first album for 13 years**, Crying the Neck, will be released on June 13\. The album was **written and recorded at Wolf’s home studio in Ramsgate**, and features contributions from Serafina Steer and Zola Jesus. The band **Caroline** have released the first single from their **new album Caroline 2**, which was **recorded at Big Jelly Studios in Ramsgate**. The new track, Tell Me I Never Knew That, features **guest vocals from Caroline Polachek**, who **joined the band in the town** for the recording session. **Margate Soul Festival** is selling a limited number of **discounted tickets for local residents**. People living in the CT7 to CT12 postcodes can grab a **weekend pass for £92.74** \- almost £30 off the full price. The festival this year takes place in **20 venues around Margate on August 1-3**, with more than DJs and performers on the line-up. Announced at the beginning of the year, **Margate Queer Library & Archive** now has an **opening date**. You will be able to peruse the shelves at **7 Thanet Road in Cliftonville** from **Saturday, June 14** from 11am to 3pm. If you fancy wine and snacks in the sunshine (that ‘if’ probably isn’t necessary), **Bottleneck in Broadstairs has reopened its courtyard bar**. It’ll be open Fridays and Saturdays until 10pm, and Sundays until 6pm. Also look out for weekly wine and cigar tasting events.
