Join us at POW in the Park on Saturday, June 21! Come and meet the Strange Tourist team at our stall at the festival in Ellington Park, Ramsgate. Alongside Paddle Media CIC, we will be inviting children to report on the day, contributing to our POW newspaper. We’ll also be hosting a workshop for children where they will don their press passes and create their own newspaper front page.

Margate Pride has announced its official after party at Dreamland’s Hall by the Sea on Saturday, August 9. The DJ and performer line up includes Jaguar, Meg Ward, Queer House Party, Tom Rasmussen, Maleigh Zan, and Lori Mae. Tickets £15

Comedians Seann Walsh and Peter Rethinasamy will be in Margate to perform work in progress shows at Olby’s on Wednesday, July 9. Tickets £16.38

Gal & Gather and Don’t Cry Over the Hash Browns are teaming up for an organic wine and snack tasting evening at Salt in Broadstairs on Saturday, July 19. This is pretty amazing. Jurassic 5 legend Chali 2na is coming to Margate. Hitting Olby’s on Saturday, August 16, the rapper will be performing J5 hits as well as solo material. Tickets £24.45.

Bob Log III is coming to Margate. The helmeted one-man blues band will be bringing his guitar (and his toaster) to Where Else on Saturday, September 13. If you haven’t seen him before, it’s very important that you go to this. Tickets £17.50.

The hardest thing about going vegan is the number of awful bits of vegan cheese you have to put in your mouth (or just smell and dump straight into the bin) before you find a good one. One of the best things about going vegan is realising you can make your own whenever you want and it’s great. Plunder Books on Ramsgate High Street is set to hold its grand opening ceremony at midday on Saturday, June 28. Not just a book shop, inside you’ll also find a tea room, Thanet smuggler experience and meeting rooms. It will also have an in-house publishing business too. 

The Garden Gate Music Day in Northdown Park, Cliftonville will take place this year on Saturday, July 19. An utterly delightful day out and an important fundraiser for the Garden Gate Project charity, this year marks the event’s tenth anniversary. It always sells out in advance, so don’t hang about. Light and sound artist duo Luxmuralis will be taking over Rochester Cathedral this autumn with their show Time. Through a series of installations throughout the building, the show will explore humanity's relationship with the concept of time. It will run from September 30 to October 4. Tickets £10

The Greenwich+Docklands International Festival in London will return for its 30th year this summer. Running from August 22 to September 6, it will once again offer a free programme of world class outdoor arts performances. See the full line up.

Fancy a go on a galleon? The Nao Santa María, a replica of the lead ship in Christopher Columbus’ fleet will be docking in Ramsgate next month as part of a tour of the UK. Ticket prices don’t include the discovery of any new worlds, but you will be able to explore the ship and find out what life was like on board back in the 15th century. It will be in port from July 23-27. Tickets £10
